A big day for area high school sports Wednesday. National Signing Day action going on in the area.

Wednesday morning, I was in Goliad, where two Tiger football teammates signed to stay teammates at the next level. All-State picks Dontavion Clay and Angel Hernandez, signing with Cisco Junior College. Hernandez, a four-year starter at linebacker, two-time All-State pick, three-time first team All-District, Goliad Defensive MVP last season. Clay, two-time first team All-District wide receiver and the district Most Valuable Player last season.

I was at West for signings in two sports.. Two Warrior football players sign with the same college. Austin Rabalais, a two-year starter at defensive back, and Brandon Gonzales, a second team All-District cornerback. signing with Southern Nazarene, an NCAA Division II school in Bethany, Oklahoma. Gonzales did his signing where he is now a student at Sinton High School. West’s Lexi Morris, signing with Texas Lutheran for volleyball and track. Morris was the district volleyball MVP last season with a team-leading 283 kills.

A big Wednesday for Cuero football continued with National Signing Day action.
I was in the Gobbler Capital Of The World as two Cuero state champion football players signed with colleges. Deandrae Lang signed with Missouri Valley College, an NCAA Division III college in Marshall, Missouri. Lang was first team All-District as a wide receiver and defensive back. Trey Moore, signing with Tarleton State. Moore earned Texas AP Sports Editors Class 4A All-State honorable mention as a defensive lineman. Trey and Gobbler teammate Jordan Whittington, picked for the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine Whataburger Super Team..
