National Go Red For Women Day
It’s the 14th annual national wear Red Day and it for a good cause.
Go Red For Women Day was designed to promote healthier lives for women of all ages.
Victoria residents are wearing red today to raise awareness that it’s important to take care of your heart.
Even though cardiovascular disease is quite prevalent in women, only 1 in 5 women are aware that heart disease is their greatest health risk.
Victoria resident Danielle smith was diagnosed with heart disease at age 34.
It wasn’t until she went for a checkup, that she realized something wasn’t right.
“Its important that people are aware of the different heart diseases that are out there and how it can possibly affect you. It can possibly save your life. It saved mine,” Smith says.
In an effort to raise awareness in the community, the American Heart Association will be sponsoring a Go Red for Women event February 9th at the Victoria Community Center. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. See attached flyer for more information.
