Multiple, large controlled fires reported today

Controlled fires cause no harm to the community

VICTORIA, Texas – Around 1″30 p.m., the Victoria County Fire Marshal’s Office reported there were multiple, large controlled burns in Victoria County and the surrounding areas. As a result of the large grass fires, residents may notice a smoky haze, as well as a strong smell of smoke when outdoors. The smoke should have dissipated by now.

The control burn occurred off of Salem Road.

We took several calls in the 25 News Now newsroom with people concerned about the controlled burns. If you suffer from breathing issues or asthma, you should avoid staying outdoors for a long period of time while smoke is in the area.
