Multiple Fire Departments Respond to House Fire in Thomaston

A Cuero Volunteer firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation after responding to a house fire at the 400 block of Thomaston River road after 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 26th.

As the fire engulfed the house, Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department asked for major back up from surrounding agencies.

These included Cuero Volunteer Fire Department, Victoria County Fire Department, Yoakum Fire & Rescue, Nursery Volunteer Fire Department, Mission Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department and Cuero EMS on standby.

DeWitt County EMC Cyndi Smith was also on scene. Smith confirmed the family was all out of the home with no reported injures, and received emergency aid from Red Cross.

The house received substantial damage and the cause of the fire continues to be investigated.
