Moody Gardens is offering a Summer 2021 road trip to remember

Island getaway with a rainforest, beach, camps, dinner cruises, titanosaurs, golf and hotel packages

GALVESTON, Texas – To kick off Memorial Day Weekend, Moody Gardens is providing daytrips and extended getaway experiences at one of the most popular tourist destinations in Texas. During their experiences at Moody Gardens, guests can explore the Rainforests of Asia, Africa and the Americas inside the Rainforest Pyramid or visit the Aquarium Pyramid, where they can travel from the Caribbean to the South and North Pacific. The Aquarium Pyramid will feature seals, penguins and thousands of fish from the oceans of the world and so much more.

While vaccinations are on the rise, so are vacation plans, and Moody Gardens is full of attractions for all ages. In compliance with Governor Abbott’s Executive Order, Moody Gardens urges visitors to wear facial coverings and continue to social distance when possible to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. For the protection of staff and guests, all employees will continue to wear face masks. There will also be strict sanitization protocols and social distancing practices put in place throughout the property to ensure the experience is clean, safe and fun.

Inside the MG 3D Theater, the new film TITANOSAUR 3D will air for individuals to discover the majesty and magnificence of the largest animal ever to walk the earth. TITANOSAUR 3D journeys to the southern hemisphere during the Late Cretaceous period to examine the life history and environment of these long-necked sauropods — from egg to titan. Inside the 4D Special FX Theater, guests will have the opportunity to experience Shark 4D and Aquaman 4D, as well. Inside the Audience Recognition Theater, featuring 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Interactive Adventure, visitors can go on a deep sea adventure with Deep the Pufferfish.

Other attractions available to guests include a 650-foot lazy river, wave pool and two 18-foot tower slides at Palm Beach. An Aquarium Adventure play area and Splashpad automated aquatic water feature with interactive dump buckets, spray arches and more are also available at this venue.

Canopy Loungers and Beach Cabanas providing comfort and additional seating will also be available for visitors to rent. Starting May 29, Palm Beach will open and have a select schedule that can be found on the website.

Starting June 14, Kids Wild Marvels Summer Camps will be open for children in grades Kindergarten through 8th-grade. Some of the activities the campers will experience include:

  • Learning what it takes to become a wildlife engineer
  • Exploring the attractions
  • Participating in design challenges
  • Performing experiments
  • Creating nature-inspired works of art
  • Learning the role humans play in the ecosystem conservation
  • Receiving puzzle pieces to create an environmental blue for oceans an rainforests of tomorrow

There will be an increased amount of Dinner Cruises over the summer. Rather than having one every month, there will be one every other Saturday. Included in the Dinner Cruises aboard the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat are:

  • Views of Offats Bayou
  • Dinner buffet
  • Cash bar with special themed dinner menus

The next Dinner Cruise will feature a Texas BBQ menu and take place on May 29. Boarding will begin at 6 p.m. with the cruise starting at 7 p.m.

There is a One Day Value Pass available for people looking to save this summer, and it includes admission to the Aquarium and Rainforest Pyramids, Discovery Museum, Colonel Paddlewheel Boart and one show in each theater (MG3D, 4D Special FX and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Audience Recognition Theater). There are discounted attractions admissions for hotel guests that will give them the opportunity to turn a day trip into an entire week trip. Guests also have the choice to apply their admission purchase towards an Annual Membership, that pays for itself in only two visits and includes several membership benefits.

An Individual Annual Membership includes:

  • unlimited admissions to the Rainforest and Aquarium Pyramids, MG 3D, 4D Special FX and Audience Recognition Theaters, Discovery Museum and the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat
  • discounts for all Moody Gardens Gift Shops, the spa, restaurants, concession areas and Moody Brews
  • receiving the best available rate at the hotel and $2 off any admission tickets purchased for friends or family

Additionally, members can now purchase a Season Pass, which includes unlimited admission to Palm Beach and the Ropes Course/Zip Line for an entire season.

There are a couple of hotel packages guests can choose from, like the Play & Stay Golf Package, including a luxurious room with your choice of a king or two queen beds, a round of golf at the Moody Gardens Gold Course, a golf cart and a bucket of range balls. Another option is the Explore Family Package for Four or for Couples, which gives hotel guests the opportunity to experience the attractions by day and relax at the Moody Gardens Hotel by night. In this package, there is a room for one night, two or four-two day passes for two consecutive days to the Rainforest and Aquarium Pyramids, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Interactive Adventure, 3D Theater, 4D Special FX Theater and the Colonel Paddlewheel Boat.

After Memorial Day Weekend, the Mood Gardens Hotel Spa will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The spa and fitness center are available to guests with a wide selection of treatments.

The Moody Gardens Golf Course has been rated the No. 6 course in the State of Texas, according to recent ranking by Gold Advisor.
