Miller and the East volleyball team facing challenges by the late start to their season
The East volleyball team will start practicing in September and have their first game right away
VICTORIA,Texas–The East volleyball team will start practicing in September and have their first game right away. Since their season is pushed back that means that they too will play a district game early in the season.
Shaun Miller, in his first season as East volleyball head coach, knows that this is a tough year, especially since having regular practices before the season wasn’t an option.
“Me being a new coach and bringing a new system in, and then in the summer too I’ve only seen those kids just for four hours the whole summer. And because of that it makes it more difficult because they’re learning all brand new stuff from me. And so us not having that practice time is something that we’re going to have to try to overcome,” said Miller.
The East volleyball team has just 2 seniors for this season. Coach Miller knows how important it is to keep it slow and simple for the younger players on the team, building as they go along throughout the season.
“I’m notorious for that anyway, the only problem is that we start playing district games right away,” continued Miller.
The East volleyball team does not have a set schedule just yet but we’ll keep you posted once their first game is released.
