Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office finds human remains inside a burned vehicle
Woman reported missing in Victoria Saturday night
MIDFIELD, Texas – The Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday around 2:30 a.m. deputies found a burned out 2018 Ford explorer with human remains inside of it.
The vehicle was located about five miles from Jackson county, near CR 454.
Lt. James Orr said they reached out to authorities in surrounding counties, to see if there were any reports involving a missing person.
Victoria Police Department said they received a missing person’s report for 38-year-old Amanda Johnson on Saturday night after 9:00 p.m.
The Texas Rangers are assisting the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office with this ongoing investigation.
Authorities are waiting for autopsy results from the Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identity of the human remains.
