Manning Gymnastics Team Goes To State
New Team Makes Big Progress
Victoria, Texas —
State comes Friday for the Manning Gymnastics level six Junior Olympic optional team.
At the team’s most recent meet, the Southwest Invitational in San Antonio, Madison Kurth took first place in the all around while taking first on bars and beam. Taylor Malaer, third place in all around, third place in vault. In early February in Arlington, Audrey Janak took fourth in vault and ninth in the all-around. I talked with those girls and head coach Beth Perez.
Said coach Perez, “Considering that this is their first optional competition season they have grown from their first meet up until now. We are super excited about state.”
Said Janak, “We’re thrilled because at the beginning of the season we were thinking we would never get this far. But now here we are.”
Said Kurth,”I’m really excited. I’m so much better and so much more confident in my skills and in myself.”
Said Malaer, “We’re very excied. We’ve upgraded our skills to harder skills. We’re all proud of that.”
