Manning Gymnastic Team’s Fabulous February

Manning Winning At Three Big Texas Events

It’s been a busy and great month for the Manning Gymnastics Junior Olympic team.

Last weekend at the Simone Biles Invitational in Houston, two Level seven Manning gymnasts had great showings. Madyn Espindola, first all around and first on floor exercise. Taylor Malaer, taking seventh in vault, 11th in the all-around. This comes after Espindola swept the Texas Shootout in Buda last month, taking first place in every event and in the all-around. The 11-year-old sixth grader at Cade Middle School also won the all-around title at the Houston National Invitational this month. I talked with head coach Beth Perez about their team’s fantastic February.

“It’s been a really amazing feeling for the girls to go to these huge competitions. Last season in compulsories we do mostly district and state competitions. With these invitationals it’s gyms for all over the state of Texas and even some from outside of the United States. To see them progress and win and place against all the other gyms has been amazing.  ”

Manning Gymnastics Junior Olympic team next competes Saturday in the Southwest Invitational at Powerhouse TNT in San Antonio.
