Man sentenced to forty years in prison for 2016 murder
VICTORIA, Texas — From the Office of Victoria County District Attorney Constance Filley-Johnson:
On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, Jesse Bozarth entered a plea of guilty in the 2016 murder of 50 year old Victoria resident Benito Garcia. Bozarth, 28, was sentenced to 40 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000. In addition, Judge Eli Garza made an affirmative finding that a deadly weapon was used by Bozarth in the commission of Garcia’s murder.
Benito Garcia was found dead by officers of the Victoria Police Department on the morning of September 28, 2016 near the railroad overpass at 500 North Navarro Street after receiving a 911 call from a passerby.
The Victoria County Criminal District Attorney’s Office worked closely with detectives of the Victoria Police Department to bring this case to a just resolution. Jesse Bozarth was represented by Victoria attorney Keith Weiser.
