Man charged with criminal mischief after damaging local hotel property

A Victoria man has been charged with criminal mischief after authorities say he caused over $2500 in damage to the Days Inn hotel on Dairy Road.

Officials say Brian Scott Tate broke into a fire extinguisher storage box inside the hall way of Days Inn Monday night.

Tate then discharged the fire extinguisher, setting off a fire alarm and causing damages.

Hotel management say Tate also destroyed an A/C unit and storage closet inside the room he was checked into.

He was booked into the Victoria county jail on criminal mischief charges.

Tate is being held on a $10,000 bond.
