Man arrested, drugs, guns seized in Matagorda County

On Thursday, November 8, 2018, the Matagorda County Narcotics Task Force executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence located on FM 2853 near Tide Water Oaks Sub-Division in Palacios, Texas.

The Matagorda County Narcotics Task Force was assisted by the FBI Tactical Team which included Bomb Technicians, as well as officers in the Texas DPS Narcotics Division.

Items seized in the search warrant include 59 firearms, improvised explosive devices, as well as Methamphetamine, Powder Cocaine and Crack Cocaine.

Officers checked the serial numbers of the firearms and 8 had been reported as stolen.

The Bomb Technicians from the FBI performed a controlled detonation on scene to safely destroy the Explosive Devices.

Michael Gene Richardson, 60 years of age was arrested and currently has been charged with 4 counts of Manufacture/ Deliver a Controlled Substance PG-, all of which are 2nd degree Felonies.

Richardson has pending charges of Possession of a stolen firearm as well as possible pending Federal Charges for the explosives.

Sheriff Skipper Osborne wants to thank the FBI and DPS for their help. He says the mission went very well with no one getting hurt and a lot of firearms were taken off the street with the concern for the citizens of Matagorda County.
