Man arrested accused of arson at the Lone Star Inn & Suites
Motel room left with extensive smoke and heat damage
VICTORIA, Texas- The Victoria Fire Department responded to a fire at the Lone Star Inn & Suites around 9:30 a.m. Friday. The motel is located at 1907 U.S. 59 N. Around noon authorities arrested the man who rented the room and charged him with arson.
Alfredo Hernandez, 42, had already left the room and was found in the area of 59 and Laurent. Records show Hernandez was still at the Victoria County Jail Friday night.
Victoria Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Tom Legler said the fire started near the mattress and a night stand. Someone who witnessed the fire called 911. Chief Legler could not comment on how the fire started or what might have led to Hernandez wanting to set the room he rented on fire.
