Major Change in Weather Pattern; Rainy Period Imminent

Upper level high pressure shifting north of the area has opened the gate to tropical easterly flow, allowing a series of disturbances to migrate through the Crossroads over the next several days. As a result, we shift from hot and humid to a more cloudy, rainy scenario beginning on Independence Day. Instead of Aliens landing (c. 1996), this Independence Day we see a tropical wave moving into the Middle and Upper Texas Coast. That system will deposit 1 to 3 inches of rain, followed by a series of minor impulses that will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms through the early part of next week. Most of the area will see rain and thunderstorms by midday, so evening activities will require a close examination of the sky and attention to your latest forecast.
