Local Woman Receives Local and Presidential Honor for Community Service

A local woman received an unexpected surprise from the United States President and Mayor Paul Polasek Thursday night.
Pastor Shirley Battles of House Of Bread Church received a Presidential Service Award for completing more than 4,000 hours of community service.
The award is given and signed by President Barack Obama.
Battles also received a proclamation from the city of Victoria as well in honor of her service.
Along with the proclamation, it will make today, January 5th, the official “Shirley Battles Day.”
