Local sponsors of Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Celebrity Golf Tournament remember late Exec. Director
VICTORIA, Texas — Wednesday was the kickoff luncheon for the 38th annual Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Celebrity Golf Tournament.
This year, the golf tournament takes place on October 13th and 14th at the Victoria Country Club, along with a Sunday night auction and the Monday night showdown and dance at Schroeder hall.
It will once again be co-hosted by country music stars Allen Shamblin and Moe Bandy.
Last year’s Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Golf Tournament raised about $120,000 for the ranch, which first opened in 1968 in Yoakum.
Since then, 600 children have gone through the ranch. This is the first Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Celebrity Tournament to be played in over a decade since Kim Reeves passed away in May after battling cancer.
Reeves was the executive director of the bluebonnet youth ranch for ten years. Two people who knew her well told us how much she is missed.
“Kim was a very dedicated administrator. I knew Kim for about 40 years and she was just a dedicated person to the youth ranch,” said Elorine Sitka, Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Director.
Celebrity co-host Allen Shamblin remembers meeting Reeves back in 1984 they had been close friends ever since.
“Kim Reeves is missed deeply and will always be missed and loved. I’ve known Kim since she was a teenager. Bright smile, big spirit,” Allen Shamblin, Bluebonnet Youth Ranch Celebrity co-host.
