Local soldier featured in Hyundai Super Bowl commercial
BLOOMINGTON- Hyundai’s Super Bowl commercial pulled off an emotional tribute to U.S. troops.
The company threw a party at a military base in Poland. But several soldiers watched the game in a special 360-degree “pod” as if they were in a suite in Houston. They were then surprised with a live-feed of their loved ones who were actually at the game.
Erik Guerrero, 22, of Bloomington was one of three soldiers selected to stream with his family. The stream let them communicate with each other in real-time. The Bloomington HS graduate has been deployed in Poland for a little more than a month now, but distance didn’t stop him from enjoying the game with his family.
The footage from both locations was edited and produced in a production trailer outside the stadium during the game.
The commercial ran in the first break after the final whistle.
