Local resident is the subject of a federal warrant

A vehicle pursuit reveals several bags of contraband

VICTORIA, Texas – On Wednesday, Nov. 17, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Victoria Police Department Detectives were involved in a vehicle pursuit. The US Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the pursuit.

Victoria resident Kelvin Montgomery, 48, is the subject of a federal warrant, charging him with the distribution of methamphetamine. He was driving the vehicle involved in the pursuit.

Law enforcement pursued Montgomery for approximately nine minutes. They went through several neighborhoods before ending in the 100 block of Champions Row. With the assistance of a VCSO K9, law enforcement apprehended Montgomery.

Officials performed an investigation and discovered an 18-month-old child was in the vehicle during the pursuit. Montgomery also had discarded several bags of contraband during the chase (24.80 grams of crack cocaine and 30.92 grams of marijuana), which were all recovered.

Officers executed another search warrant at a residence in the 3900 block of Hanselman Road. The search resulted in the discovery of 204.58 grams of marijuana, 32.14 grams of cocaine, 80.25 grams of crack cocaine and a stolen firearm.

Montgomery remains in the Victoria County Jail on the federal warrant. He also has numerous state charges pending.
