Local Officers to Honor Fallen Dallas Officers Today on Ambush Anniversary

VICTORIA – Today marks one year since five police officers were killed in an ambush in downtown Dallas.

To mark the one-year anniversary of the attack on Dallas law enforcement, and in honor of all peace officers across Texas, Governor Greg Abbott issued a state wide call to stand with law enforcement in the Lone Star State. He’s asking all Texas law enforcement officers to turn on their red and blue lights for one minute at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7.

Here in Victoria, VPD will support Gov. Abbott’s call to stand with law enforcement.
According to police chief J. J Craig, members of the traffic safety unit will line up their marked units in the center turn lane along Navarro Street. between Mockingbird Lane and Crestwood Drive. Deputies with the Victoria County Sheriff’s office will carry out the tribute at the sheriff’s office at 10 a.m.
