Local Golfer Beats His Age, Wins Money On Pro Tour

The amazing David Lundstrom is at it again. The teaching and touring golf pro at The Club At Colony Creek, winning the Southern Texas PGA Senior Series tournament at Silverhorn Golf Club Of Texas this week. The 71-year-old Lundstrom shot 65 in round one, ending up at five under for 36 holes, winning by four shots and earning 300 dollars for the win. David will play in the 50th Southern Texas PGA championship next week at Victoria Country Club.
Casey Russell, golf head pro at The Club At Colony Creek and Southern Texas PGA tourney champion two years ago, signed up to play in this one, as is Victoria Country Club director of golf Breene Cantwell and former VCC head pro Joe Mitchell, now the first assistant and playing pro at Shadow Hawk Golf Club in Richmond. Calhoun-ex Greyson Parker, a golf pro at The Woodlands, is coming in to play. so is five-time Southern Texas PGA championship winner Robert Thompson. The tourney pro-am is Sunday at Victoria Country Club, with the three-day tourney starting Monday.

The winner-take-all match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is on.

WarnerMedia says it has secured the rights for a pay-per-view event it is promoting as “The Match.” It will be 18 holes between Woods and Mickelson held Thanksgiving weekend at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas. The winner will receive $9 million.

The pay-per-view cost is to be announced later.

Woods announced that the match was on in a tweet , setting off Twitter banter with Mickelson , who only signed up for a Twitter account Wednesday.

WarnerMedia says pay-per-view coverage will be distributed through Turner’s B/R Live, AT&T DirecTV and U-verse, and other on-demand platforms. HBO Sports and Bleacher Report will take part in the promotion.

Woods and Mickelson will make side bets during the match on such things as longest drive or closest to the pin.
