Local Golf Pro Has Big Finish At Victoria Open
Mitchell Goes Five Under For Last Two Rounds
Victoria, Texas —
When the All Pro Golf Tour decided not to have a cut for the Victoria Open last week, it really benefited the host pro for the open.
Joe Mitchell, PGA Director Of Golf at Victoria Country Club, shot 68 and 69, total of five under par, over the last two rounds, with a total of ten birdies over those last 36 holes. The timing for this for Mitchell is great. He will compete at the Houston Open qualifyer on Cctober 7, then he will play for the Southern Texas PGA for the fifth time in the Joe Black Cup matches. Joe told me what he did that made the last two rounds so good.
“Just played it well, drove it well for the last two days. I only missed two or three greens over the last 36. I just struck it well, putted well, and thought well, That always fires me up to get on that team with the South Texas guys and go against the North. It was good. Even coming from the Section championship I’ve had four of my last five rounds 72 or better. I’m starting to strike, starting to see results and starting to make a lot of birdies. “
Joe Mitchell finished in 33rd place at the Victoria Open, shooting one over par for 72 holes.
