Living historians bring Santa Anna's army back to life

GOLIAD, Texas – In Goliad at the Presidio la Bahia – living historians gathered to recreate Santa Anna’s army circa 1836.

James Wilson, a living historian, was part of the Primer Battalion Saturday at the event and says he enjoys sharing his passion for history with others.

“I am a pifanero, a fifer, a military musician,” Coffey said. “The main reason for the fifer, the drummers and the buglers wasn’t to entertain, they were there to sound signals. I’ve loved history all my life and it gives us a change to present our interest to other people in a way that is hopefully interesting to them.”

The program continues through noon on Sunday – and if you are interested in becoming a living historian – visit the historic site’s here.
