Wimbish-Gay is one of three area girls basketball players named to the team

VICTORIA, Texas — Unsure if she’ll compete again as a Titan, East senior Leilani Wimbish-Gay earned another accolade on Thursday.

Wimbish-Gay was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region team Thursday, after leading the Titans in scoring this season. The senior averaged just shy of 18 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, and 4 steals per game and scored 626 total points for East. She was named Offensive MVP of the district, leading East to the regional quarterfinals.

“I was happy about it,” said Wimbish-Gay on Tuesday about her senior season. “I didn’t like the way it ended, but I was really proud.”

The senior has committed to play basketball at The Master’s University in Santa Monica, and she joins Jackesha Nichols of El Campo and Seely Metting of Yorktown as the three girls basketball players in the Crossroads named to All-Region teams.
