Lavaca County Office of Emergency Management issues warning on scam
They warn of some people getting calls from someone claming to be a CBP officer or Border Patrol agent demanding payments over the phone, warning that this is a scam.
LAVACA COUNTY, Texas – The Lavaca County Office of Emergency Management issued a warning on scam that some people may be targeted with. In a Facebook post, they said that some may get a call from someone claiming to be a CBP officer or Border Patrol agent demanding payment over the phone. They advise you to hang up— and that it’s a scam. CBP does not solicit money over the phone.
