Lauren Johnson Memorial Invitational concludes at Colony Creek

Round two of the Lauren Johnson Memorial Invitational golf tournament took place Saturday at the Club at Colony Creek. Despite less-than-ideal playing conditions, East and West both saw golfers earn top-five finishes at the event.

After carding an opening round 93, Titan Karsyn White posted a team-best 86 on Saturday to earn third place individually, as the East A team took the top spot overall. West’s Ansilee Stehling finished right behind White, carding an 81 on Saturday to take fourth place overall individually. The West A team finished in second place in the team standings.

East head coach Mike Smith told me after the tournament he feels events like the Lauren Johnson lay important groundwork for the upcoming season.

“I think the more we can play against good people, the better we’re gonna be,” said East head coach Mike Smith. “Everything we do is just to lead up to get ready for district.”

Kaylee Canales of Veterans Memorial topped the individual leaderboard with a two-day 167.
