Large and Intense Upper Level Ridge Continues to Oppress Texas

Texans just can’t shake a large, dominant upper level ridge that has been baking the State since early this week, and this weekend will prove even hotter and more dangerous. Excessive Heat Warnings are posted for a large part of North and Central Texas including nearly 10 million people, surrounded by Heat Advisories affecting millions more. The Crossroads lies at the eastern periphery of that ridge and is likely to be under heat advisories this weekend. Look for afternoon temperatures near or above 100 degrees, with heat index values approaching 110. By midweek, the ridge moves west and allows isolated showers and thunderstorms to the region.
