Lady Brahmas prepare for Banquete
HALLETTSVILLE, Texas — Back in the regional finals for the first time in three years, Hallettsville softball doesn’t seem at all phased by the moment.
“We have really good at bats,” senior third baseman Hannah Bludau said at Monday’s practice. “We just need to make sure we’re making every at bat count, and we need to make every inning count.”
After finding themselves down a game in their third round series against Santa Gertrudis last week, the Lady Brahmas stormed back to sweep Saturday’s doubleheader. They were spearheaded by the superb pitching of Rylee Trlicek and an 8-RBI day from junior Kenzi Lange, who homered twice in game one of the twin bill. Halletsville won game one 15-0, before taking the second contest 9-8, in walkoff fashion.
“You never know, you can never take any team lightly,” said Abbie Bludau, Hannah’s cousin. “It’s just gonna be a fight to the end. We really want to fight to get to Austin.”
The Lady Brahmas will face Banquete in the regional final — with a trip to the State Tournament in Austin on the line — starting Wednesday in Jourdanton.
