Kenosha, Wisconsin’s turmoil and Trump’s visit
President Trump visits Kenosha, after Jacob Blake's shooting video went viral
KENOSHA, Wisconsin — This Tuesday, September 1st, Trump visited Kenosha to meet with business owners and law enforcement. In the past, he has defended the police and law enforcement, despite what the video evidence reveals. One comment during an interview with Laura Ingraham, from Fox News on Monday night, has caused him controversy and scrutiny. In this interview, he compared police brutality with golf.
“They choke. Just like in a golf tournament, they miss a 3 foot putt. I’m saying people choke, people choke,” Trump said, during the interview on Monday night.
Many videos have been circulating social media and the internet, involving police brutality and gun violence. Since George Floyd’s death on May 25th, many people took it to the streets to protest, after watching him beg for air and his mother before he died.
Recently, another disturbing video has been released, involving police brutality aimed at another black man. Jacob Blake, 29, was shot seven times in the back by the police, then rushed to the hospital, and left paralyzed from the waist down. The video of his shooting has circulated, causing people to riot and protest on the streets of Kenosha. During the protests, many started fires, were caught looting, stealing, and vandalizing.
