Keep Victoria Beautiful Parkway neighborhood cleanup
Over 100 volunteers showed up to the neighborhood cleanup event
VICTORIA, Texas -The Keep VIctoria Beautiful project hosted a neighborhood cleanup in the Parkway edition near Dairy Treat between Crestwood Drive and Mesquite Lane. A multitude of community members and organizations came out to help; C3, Northside Baptist Church, and the Victoria East high school baseball team were all there to help with the cleanup. Jodi Sandoval with Teens Grounded says that events like this are a chance to connect with the community.
“To create community, we wanted to get out to our neighbors and just let them know some of the services the city provides. The public library was out here today with handouts with some of the things that are going on at the library. Just educating our community,” says Sandoval.
The purpose of the event was to assist with getting large waste items to the curb, and with over 100 volunteers they made quick work of moving everything to the curb.
“BBQ pits, we had limbs, we had old swing sets, I mean we had lots of bulky items”, says Sandoval on the variety of items her team moved to the curb for pick up.
With all the items curbside the city of Victoria will pick them up early next week. Sandoval says that her love for the Victoria community is what motivates her to participate in Keeping Victoria Beautiful.
“I love our community, I think everybody knows that, and I just love to see us come together and help each other because that’s what community really means”, says Sandoval.
