Jeffery Nelson is our Military Hero of the Month
Every month we take a moment to honor those who put their lives on the line to serve our country. Today we honor Jeffery Nelson, he served in the army for 25 years.
“The first Gulf War started in 1990 that was kinda surreal because I was a 21-year-old soldier. I’m in Saudi Arabia watching jets and everything go across the night sky and laying on the back deck and you’re like hearing the bombs,” said Jeffery Nelson, the military hero of the month.
Nelson says he went to Korea, Italy, and was deployed to Afghanistan. During this time he met a lot of people along the way. He takes a glimpse into some of the good memories of serving in the army.
“It’s just great to have the friends because no matter where you go you’re always going to make friends but in the military, it’s that companionship that you have and I just enjoyed being with soldiers,” said Nelson.
The Bronze Star and the American Legion award are only a few of the medals Nelson won while serving our country.
“ I have the good conduct medal, the army achievement, and an army accommodation. The army accommodation I think I have like six or seven but there are quite a few awards that I can’t even remember them all,” said Nelson.
Currently, Nelson is spending a lot of time volunteering in the crossroads. we want to say thank you for your service and for being our military hero of the month.
