Jaguars split series with the Southwest Mustangs

UHV splits series with Southwest after two doubleheaders

VICTORIA,Texas–The UHV Jaguars faced the Southwest Mustangs in a doubleheader on the road.

An evenly matched scoring game in game one for the most part.
The Jaguars score first with three runs in the first inning but the Mustangs answer right back as they bring in four runs of their own in the second inning. The Jaguars score another run and

Mustangs match that in the fourth. Then in the fourth and fifth innings both the Jaguars and Mustangs score three more runs each, but the Mustangs end up with that extra run they scored in the second inning to get the win 8-7.

Game two started off with the Jaguars scoring a run in the first inning but it was quiet on both ends until the fifth inning when UHV scored another run. Jaguars pitcher Tyler Price started the game and went seven innings where he gave up four runs.

Price shut out the Mustangs through six, not allowing a run. The Mustangs and their bats woke up in the last three innings as they scored two runs in the seventh and eight innings then add three more in the ninth to win game two 7-2.

In the final set of doubleheaders against the Southwest Mustangs, Jaguars came ready to play.

After losing the first two games to the Mustangs, the Jaguars hoped to change things around. The Mustangs go on the board first scoring two runs in the first inning, but the Jaguars bring in three runs of their own in the second inning and three more in the fourth. The Mustangs score just two more runs in the game and the Jaguars are able to hold on to a 8-4 win to take game three.

Game four was a back and forth game. Levi Whitlock started the game for the Jaguars and went three innings. UHV had four different pitching changes throughout the game. Jaguars scored a run first, but the Mustangs score two runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth inning before scoring three more runs in the seventh.

Yet the Jaguars would have a huge final ninth inning as they bring in seven runs to win it 12-11. Jaguars’ Luis Vargas and Maxwell Sheldon both hit home-runs. With these two wins, they split the series with the Southwest Mustangs.
