Jackson County set to become a “2nd Amendment Sanctuary County”
VICTORIA, Texas — The right to bear arms is undeniably a hot topic as we inch closer to an election year.
Second amendment sanctuary counties intend to honor and fully defend gun rights.
Here in the Crossroads, Jackson County is the first to add its name as a second amendment sanctuary county.
The topic of guns intensifies on the political battle field from protests demanding tighter gun laws, to others expressing their given right. Well now, ‘second amendment sanctuary counties’ are the latest statement.
“Its a direct response to people who believe that our country would be safer if we were unarmed, [or] if we were to unarmed our citizens.” explained Jackson County Sheriff A.J. Louderback.
Jackson county, will be the first county in the Crossroads to be a second amendment sanctuary county.
Louderback, who as an elected official presented the resolution adds,”I approached the commissioners court in Jackson county for their approval to declare Jackson county a sanctuary for gun ownership in [the] county.”
According to the resolution presented on November 26th, the county will uphold the second amendment quoting that very amendment in the drafted resolution:
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed upon…”
Louderback adds that “[if] you’re a law-abiding citizen here in Texas and in Jackson county, that this is a sanctuary that we support the second amendment — and the right to keep and bear arms, and that’s the message that has to be clear to the public”
Jackson county is the fourth county in the state to do so. The resolution is expected to be signed by all commissioners on Tuesday, December 10th.
