Jackson county jail dealing with Covid-19
Sixteen Jackson county jail inmates have Covid-19
JACKSON County – Thirty-two inmates in the Jackson County Jail in Edna are awaiting Covid-19 test results. Sixteen inmates there have the virus and 41 inmates are in quarantine. Eleven jailers also have the disease and two jailers are in isolation.
Statewide 20 inmates have died due to Covid-19 and 656 inmates currently have the virus.
Jackson County Sheriff A.J. “Andy” Louderback said the facility is now on the back end of the situation. He said daily cleaning and disinfecting continues. He said the state sent in two nurses for about ten days to help with the situation and the area Hospital District is helping too. No word on when jailers and inmates can get the Covid-19 vaccine.
“I’m sure that’s coming in the future,” Sheriff Louderback said. “We’ll get involved in that for the inmates who want to do that.”
