Isolated Showers Dot Crossroads; Heat and Humidity Persists
Steamy Nights, Sultry Afternoons Prevail
VICTORIA, Texas — As the moisture associated with Barry fades from memory locally, so do rain chances for the Crossroads. Lingering, however, is the extreme heat and humidity that makes breathing difficult with heat indices approaching 110 degrees. A south southeast wind will persist overnight and through Wednesday and Thursday at between 10 and 22 mph, keeping the Gulf moisture in place. An upper level ridge building back over the area seals off the low level moisture and insures that heat indices remain at or near heat advisory criteria through the weekend. Rain chances diminish to become nil Wednesday through Sunday, as well. By late Monday, however, a cold front makes its way into South Texas, returning isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. By Tuesday, temperatures will be limited to the upper 80s as mostly cloudy skies accompany scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.
