Investigation opens after altercation ends in fatality
VICTORIA, Texas- On Friday, March 13th, 2020 at 5:56 p.m., officers with the Victoria Police Department responded to a residence in the 4100 block of Callis St. in reference to a possible shooting.
Investigation revealed that there was some sort of altercation between numerous subjects at the location which escalated into gunfire.
One subject, who was identified as 30-year-old Victoria resident Cary Givens, had been shot and was transported to a local hospital via personal vehicle prior to police arrival. Givens was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
With information obtained, officers were able to determine suspect information. While VPD Investigators were conducting the investigation, a person of interest was interviewed at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. This person of interest had sustained serious injuries as a result of the initial altercation on Callis St.
No arrests have been made at this time; however, this is an ongoing investigation and arrest(s) are pending.
