Synopsis: Moisture levels increased to 1.5″ due to the Gulf, the Seabreeze and daytime evaporation yesterday (Sunday).  Moisture levels will increase a little bit more today (Monday) but combined with some spin in the upper levels (700 mb/10,000 feet) and the daytime heating from the sun and the area has better chances for some thunderstorms.  The Storm Prediction Center is suggesting a 20 percent chance for storms in the eastern portions of the viewing area.  Heat indices today will be around 105-109 degrees with a few spots for a little bit of time increasing to 110 degrees as humidity levels increase.

For the long-term period, Monday night through Saturday,  hot, dry conditions continue through the week as high pressure further controls the atmosphere.  Temperatures will be in the 90’s near the coast but possible triple digits out west.

Storms to the south on Tuesday will bring more moisture into the area (close to 2″) especially along the coast. The storm CAP/LID will slightly weaken in the higher levels (850 mb), moisture colliding and lifting up could be enough to bring some isolated showers and possible thunderstorms Tuesday morning.  This would slightly cool the area for the short term before heating back up rather quickly later Tuesday or on Wednesday.

These storms could move further inland (due to the Seabreeze), but the CAP/LID is stronger out west, and could stifle rain chances.  Tuesday’s rain chances (20-30 percent chance) will lessen the rest of the week as drier conditions return.  Heat indices again will be in the 105–109-degree range.

Saharan Dust: The dust will make a return Tuesday night lasting through the end of the week bringing back the hazy conditions.
