Inside lanes to close between Teakwood Drive and Sam Houston Drive on Bus 59T
This is part of the third milestone of the new raised medium
VICTORIA, Texas – On Wednesday, Dec. 5, Texas Steel Industrial Placing (TSIP) will begin the third milestone of the new raised medium, weather permitting. This is a part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s BUS 59T Concrete Median Barrier, Sidewalks, Illumination and Signal project between Loop 463 and N Navarros Street.
Limits of the second milestone of work on this project will take place on BUS 59T, between Teakwood Drive and Sam Houston Drive. Nineteen calendar days were set up to complete the raised median within this work section. In order to install the raised median between these limits, contractors will need long-term inside lane closures in each direction of travel. The contractor will perform the work within the existing center, continuous left-turn lane, throughout the 19-day duration.
TSIP was awarded the contractor with a bid of $3,461,134.50. The project started on Oct. 26, 2021, and the estimated completion date is Dec. 2o22.
Motorists should prepare for possible traffic delays. They should also use caution when driving through the work zone and should keep the following tips in mind:
- Motorists should slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. They should also keep in mind speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes, and traffic fines double in work zones.
- You should also pay attention. Workers and heavy equipment may only be a few feet from passing vehicles.
- Motorists need to also be patient. Delays from roadway construction can be frustrating, but it only takes a few extra minutes to slow down for a work zone.
