Inmate death at the Jackson County Jail under investigation
Texas Rangers and Texas Commission on Jail standards reviewing reported suicide in Jackson County Jail
JACKSON COUNTY, Texas – The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of an inmate at the Jackson County Jail. Authorities say Kacey Sowell, 40, entered the jail Friday, August 21, 2020 on a drug charge. On Monday he made a mental health outcry and received services. On Wednesday, August 26, 2020 Sowell was found hanged in a single shower stall.
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards will also review the incident.
