Industrial AD/HFC Jamie Dixon leaving program for Blanco
Dixon was the head coach for the Cobras the past four years
VANDERBILT, Texas – The Industrial Cobras will be without its two-time district-winning head coach this fall. Athletic director/football head coach Jamie Dixon will be leaving the program for the Blanco Panthers job in the greater Austin area. The BISD approved the hiring late Wednesday night with a unanimous vote.
Dixon went 38-13 overall the past four seasons at Industrial, including winning two district titles in 2019 and 2020. Even though not winning district in 2021, the Cobras advanced to the regional finals in Class 3A Division I where they lost to Lago Vista, 35-21.
Dixon said he will miss his co-workers and athletes, but will always cherish his first year at Industrial when the cobras beat the Hallettsville Brahmas to make it to playoffs.
We had to start Matthew Davis as a freshman that game, said Dixon. Winning that game and seeing those kids and the community, just the excitement on them, that was the turning point of what has been accomplished here.
Dixon plans to bring his offensive style to Blanco which will be some what a culture shock to the Panthers since they have run the slot-T for years from under center.
