Immigrants and marijuana found in tractor-trailer

EL PASO–Immigration special agents found 23 illegal immigrants and 250 pounds of marijuana yesterday in a tractor-trailer near El Paso.

While driving eastbound on HWY 10, the trailer was pulled over by special agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Border Task Force.

The agents found 21 adults and two unaccompanied minors in the trailer.

Three of them were from Guatemala and 20 were from Mexico.

The driver is from Georgia.

The has been charged with transporting illegal immigrants for financial gain.

One of the passengers has been charged with possession and intent to distribute marijuana.

According to court documents, everyone appeared to be in good health, though the trailer was not ventilated.
