Hurricane Harvey recovery mattress donation
VICTORIA, Texas — The Catholic Diocese of Victoria, which funds the House In A Box program, collected over sixty new mattresses, to eventually be distributed to those that are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.
Those mattresses were brought in by semi truck this morning, and dropped off at the warehouse of the Victoria Long Term Recovery Group. Richard Mcbrayer , Victoria Emergency Management Coordinator, who also helped to unload mattresses, says this will help those in our that are still struggling to recover.
” Once again, this is a great partnership as we continue to see the recovery from Hurricane Harvey. Even though we are two years out, we are still having folks that are donating. Companies that are helping to invest their time in our communities, so our community can recover fully and to be more resilient for the next season, ” said McBrayer .
Volunteers from the Knights of Columbus, Quail Creek Volunteer Fire Department, VCAM , and the Golden Crescent Planning Commission, also helped to unload mattresses. Only those that have an active claim with disaster care management will receive a mattress.
