The Department of Homeland Security says trafficking is considered modern day slavery. In Texas, there are more than 200,000 victims at any given time.
In a short twitter video, Governor Greg Abbott spoke to his followers about his work towards stopping human trafficking in Texas. Abbott said, “working together to eradicate this heinous crime. Last session I signed more than 20 laws that cracked down on human trafficking as well as to help the victims of this crime. With the help of our brave, law enforcement officers, we will end human trafficking in Texas and deliver justice for the survivors.”
The Crossroads is known for being a main corridor for the transportation of trafficked victims. Governor Abbott along with local leaders are working to form task force groups to prevent human trafficking.
