“The main thing is to remove standing water dump out old flower pots throw away anything that holds rain water,” Boswell said.

The Victoria County Health Department says with mosquitoes comes the issue of preventing the spread of diseases from these bugs.

“Some other diseases that we could hypothetically see but are unlikely to see are dengue, chikungunya and zika,” Victoria County Health Department Epidemiologist, Kyle McCauley said.

Tips to Prevent Mosquito Bites:

Avoid going outside around dusk and dawn. Mosquitoes are most active during those times. Wear long sleeve pants and sleeves. Carry bug spray. Drain your lawn and keep your grass cut short.
