Home is where the heart is
VICTORIA,Texas–Two years after the Hurricane Harvey tragedy, some families were finally able to have their own home again. Josephine De-La-Vega, one of the victims, received the keys to her new home today and she was beyond grateful. When asked about how she felt after walking into her new home she said,
“Excited, nervous and happy. I’m very appreciative of what they have done for me.”
Her grandchildren joined in with her to see the house, and they too were very excited and happy for her. Hurricane Harvey took homes and lives back in August 2017 causing a 125 billion dollar damage. Housing Urban Development (HUD) has been building homes for those who lost theirs two years ago. They have been providing a safe place for the families to go to. De-La-Vega was staying with her sons and her daughter before she finally got to have a place of her own again.
