High speed police chase ensues after man lies about his identity
VICTORIA, Texas — A traffic stop on SW Moody suddenly turned into a high speed police chase on Monday.
When the deputy stopped Sergio Fernandez Perez, who was driving a white Chevy pickup on SW Moody,Perez stated that he had no identification on him.
The officer asked Perez to step out of the vehicle. The driver kept stating his name was Gabriel Perez, but dispatch could not find any information regarding the subject.
While the officer was looking up the man’s identity Perez ran back into the vehicle and drove off.
The deputy pursued Perez who was going over 100 MPH in a 55 MPH zone in an attempt to evade arrest.
Perez eventually abandoned the vehicle running on foot into the backyard of a home. The deputy drove around to another street and stopped the Perez and managed to arrest him after ordering Perez to get down on the ground.
Perez also alerted the arresting officer to a bag of synthetic marijuana in his pocket which was confiscated by the officer.
The twenty-five-year-old has already been arrested for Injury to a Child.
Perez was booked into the county jail and it held on a $40,000 bond.
