HEB and Port Lavca Chamber of Commerce host 2019 Food Rally

Monday evening in Port Lavaca, HEB and the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Food Rally benefiting the Food Pantry.

Teams of up to three people 18 years of age or older competed or a great cause.

The first, second, and third place teams had their grocery carts paid-in-full and donated to the Port Lavaca Food Pantry.

All contestants were invited to come in their most festive costumes because the winner of Best Costume is also awarded a prize.

Tania French with the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce stopped by the studio to tell us about the event.

She says, “It’s tons of fun. People show up at about 10:15, and they close the store early. We start at about 10:30 and it’s a race. It’s a shopping cart race. HEB even plays some tricks, so they’ve moved some of the regular items, but they’re all items that the food pantry needs at this time of year.”

If you couldn’t make it to the Food Rally and want to donate to the Port Lavaca Food Pantry French tells us that all donations of non-perishables are welcome and wanted.
