Synopsis: Thunderstorms and scattered showers tapered off Tuesday night at around 7 pm.  High-pressure moved back into the area and will be in the vicinity for much of the forecast period.  By Wednesday afternoon the high will reduce moisture levels (less than 1.5″ and below average).  The area should remain dry (maybe a few light scattered showers here and there, from lingering moisture and the sun’s energy but that’s it) as temperatures climb slightly.  Temperatures on Wednesday (Heat Indices) could be near 110 degrees in some spots.  That could incite Heat Advisories with light rain at times keeping some spots slightly below advisory criteria.

For the long term, Thursday through Monday, high-pressure will continue to strengthen across the broadcast area through Thursday.  A trough/low-pressure system will be strengthening in the eastern part of the United States.  This trough movement will send a cold front boundary south on Thursday/Friday that will come close to the Crossroads.  As the front moves closer than moisture levels will increase in the Crossroads (near 2.0″).  The boundary will bring scattered (and isolated) showers to the area for a short time on Thursday but with higher chances of measurable rain on Friday.
