Synopsis: A trough/disturbance moved from the east out over the Gulf and headed west and closer to the viewing area today (Sunday).  Storms fired up (from the sun’s heating) out over the Gulf Sunday afternoon and should make their way into the Crossroads between 1 am and 7 am Monday morning as the trough/disturbance continues moving from east to west.  Heat indices today ranged from 105-109 degrees.

For the long-term period, Monday through Saturday, the trough pushing through the area on Monday could allow for thunderstorm development from morning until Noon on Monday with showers weakening (taper off) in the evening as energy from the sun starts to simmer down.

High-pressure over the Four Corners on Tuesday, will move east throughout the week and into South Texas.  The high will drop moisture levels (1.6″ and below average), and the push down (subsidence) effect from the high should put a CAP/LID on the atmosphere thus stifling most rain chances (thunderstorms) during the middle of the week.  Moisture levels will increase (2.0″ plus) later in the week as a low-pressure system moves up from eastern Mexico.  This could bring rain showers to the viewing area.

Elevated fire weather could be a concern later in the week as relative humidity levels drop (25-40 percent) during the afternoons, while winds become/stay breezy (20/G30 mph) at times.  Temperatures will be on the rise as the week moves along with temperatures near 100 degrees (higher further west) and heat indices from 105-109 degrees but headed towards heat advisory criteria from Wednesday on as heat indices approach 110 to 114 degrees.
