Heat for the weekend, rain chances during the week

High pressure has its grip on the Crossroads once again, but not for long.

The rest of this weekend is expected to be hot and dry, with heat advisories possible in some areas. Highs will once again be in the triple digits, with heat indices around 110 degrees. You can also expect some breezy conditions to develop because of a thermal gradient (temperature differences from one place to another) that has developed over the area.

Once the work week starts, however, the pattern changes. The high pressure system moves off to the west, allowing moisture over our area to increase. Rain chances will range from 20-30% all week, and into next weekend. Highs will remain in the upper 90s, but at least a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day gives us a chance at some relief.

The end of next week, we are looking at the possibility of a tropical wave bringing us some more moisture into the area. That’s all we are expecting it to do right now, so no need to worry about an impending tropical system.
