Heat and Humidity Remain in Place through Saturday

Rain Chances Return Saturday, Increase Next Week

Skies are fair to partly cloudy over the Crossroads late today, with the familiar combination of heat and humidity rendering heat indices between 106 and 114 degrees. No precipitation is occurring in or near the region, and none is anticipated through Friday. As the dominant upper level ridge shifts eastward over the weekend, however, a series of upper level disturbances will destabilize the atmosphere enough for isolated showers on Saturday, then scattered showers and thunderstorms by Sunday. Deep layer tropical moisture and more instability Monday through Tuesday will bring about rains upwards of two inches. Ridging builds back over the area midweek, shutting down rain chances. Highs remain in the 90s, with lows in the 70s to near 80.
